My Favorite Enneagram Resources
Unless you have been on a very long social media hiatus, or boycotting podcasts or living under a rock you have likely heard people talking about their Enneagram number. I appreciate the definition that The Enneagram at Work uses:
The Enneagram is a system of nine personality types combining traditional wisdom with modern psychology - a powerful tool for understanding ourselves and the people in our lives.
I personally have found learning more about the Enneagram and my number (1 - The Reformer in case you were curious) incredibly helpful over the past couple of years. It has brought a new level of self-awareness and self-discovery both at work and at home. If you are an Enneagram expert or just learning about this resource, below are a few of my favorite Enneagram resources for you to dive into on your journey of personal growth.
My Favorite Free Enneagram Test
The free assessment available from Your Enneagram Coach is the most in depth and accurate free assessment I have found. Many advocates of the Enneagram will remind you that you can not boil knowing your number down to a simple test, but it is in my opinion, a helpful starting place.
My Favorite Paid Enneagram Test
We have used the assessment from the Enneagram Institute in our business to bring awareness to the personality types of anyone in a management position in our organization. We have also used this test on prospective management candidates to help paint a more holistic picture of if they are the right person for the job.
My Favorite Enneagram Book
The Road Back to You by Ian Morgan Cron and Suzanne Stabile was the first book I read on the Enneagram and continues to be the book I recommend most to friends who are interested in learning more. It provides a comprehensive but easy to understand overview of the Enneagram as a whole as well as a deep dive into each number. It includes helpful resources for the number you personally identify with and for relationships you are in with people of other numbers.
My Favorite Enneagram Instagram Account
@enneagramandcoffee blew up over night thanks to some clever parings of Enneagram numbers and beloved TV characters. Now it has evolved into a rich account with lots of helpful resources, a podcast and of course they’re still pumping out hilarious memes that hit a little too close to home at times.
My Favorite Enneagram Podcast
There are so many great podcast resources to help you on your Enneagram journey. However, my favorite is not an Enneagram specific podcast but a special podcast series on the Enneagram by Annie F. Downs. Over the summer of 2019 Annie hosted the #EnneaSummer2019 series with one episode dedicated to each number of the Enneagram. Each episode featured a man and a woman of the same number discussing various life circumstances from the perspective of their number. It was deep, soulful, vulnerable, funny and I can’t recommend it enough.
